Protest Condoleezza Rice in Portland

Upcoming direct action: Secretary of State Condi Rice is coming to the Portland Convention Center Wednesday, October 19. The protest there, coordinated with Veterans for Peace and other groups, begins at 5:00pm.

Condi Rice was National Security Adviser and Secretary of State under Bush II, and was a key figure in drawing deceptive connections between Saddam Hussein and the events of 9/11. The resulting Iraq war cost, and is still costing, billions of dollars, the lives of uncounted hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and some four thousand American military, and unimaginable destruction.

PSU Student Veterans Association First Annual Veteran Reception!

The Student Veteran Association (SVA) will host its first annual veteran reception from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 22 in the Portland State Native American Center.

According to Dave Christensen, PSU student and president of SVA, at least a dozen PSU organizations are expected to attend from across campus, the community and the state.
About 900 veterans are enrolled at PSU today, a 30 percent increase from last year. Many of these students afford college through the post-9/11 GI Bill that pays tuition and fees while providing money for books and a monthly living allowance.
