Free "Green" Training for Veterans

In April, June and August, Veterans Green Jobs will be providing free Home Energy Efficiency Audit Training (HEAT) to veterans. The course is 8 weeks long, and food and housing will be provided. Currently classes will start in Colorado and veterans nation wide are encouraged to travel and live with us during the 8 week period. Soon we will have training programs in other regions and in various green fields. Come join Veterans Green Jobs to earn national certification, college credits and meaningful employment helping America restore its economy, environment and communities.

Resisting Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) recall

The Individual Ready Reserve (IRR), sometimes called the Inactive Ready Reserve, is composed of former military personnel who still have time remaining on their enlistment agreements but have returned to civilian life. They are eligible to be called up in "states of emergency".

Sanctuary Weekend for Women Veterans

Sanctuary One at Double Oak Farm received a $5,000 grant recently from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation. These funds will launch a series of Sanctuary Weekends for veterans and military family members. The first Sanctuary Weekend retreat for Women Veterans is scheduled for April 10-12. Women veterans are the second-fastest growing demographic in the veteran population. This community-based retreat will be one of the first in the nation to focus exclusively on the needs of women veterans. Facilitators are women veterans and female therapists who are also family members of veterans.
